OUR SWIM TRAINERS

We believe that when you do things with passion magic happens!

The Sandown Swimming school has partnered with 2 very experienced swimming teachers, whom have years of teaching experience.
Our trainers are passionate about learning and development, are patient and start with the end result in mind.

Our teachers use the interactive, participative and confidence building approach during lessons. As swimming is not just a life skill but also an opportunity for young people to engage, take instructions, laugh and share their thoughts – we prefer to guide and nurture as opposed to simply just tell.

All our trainers are qualified swim SA instructors with up to date first aid certificates.

Accredited Learn to Swim Instructor.

I have been involved in various sectors of education for the past 17 years and it is being witness to triumph, success and determination that drives my passion in this profession both in the classroom and in the water. As a scholar I was always in the water and opted for goggles and caps over any other available sport and once I started my teaching career, I jumped at the opportunity to coach swimming and develop my coaching and training skills. I have been involved in the teaching of the learn-to-swim programs at the primary schools I have worked at as well as squad training. Over the last several years I have been involved in Early Childhood education and also fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to teach much younger children. It is such a fulfilling and rewarding experience to be a part of the journey of learning to swim!

My love for the water started when I was a provisional swimmer in my childhood. My passion for working with children began when I studied Foundation phase teaching. I began teaching swimming and helped set up various swim schools for the Health and Racquet clubs in and around Johannesburg. In 1993 I opened my own swimming school in Sandton called Cheryl’s Swimming school and enjoyed operating a successful swim school for many years. Over the 35 years that I have been teaching swimming, I have gained experience in teaching all ages from babies up until adults . I have knowledge of various teaching methods and always try to remain up to date with new swimming developments
